The Diocese of Toowoomba established a Commission of Enquiry (1997–98), Queensland consumer-affairs investigators examined the movement's finances (no findings, citing insufficient evidence), and Bishop William Morris formally censured the movement in February 1999. It fragmented through founder-family litigation and defections; Geileskey relocated to Vanuatu in 2007.

Science of Identity Foundation / Chris Butler

Hawaii-based offshoot of the Krishna-consciousness tradition led by Chris Butler ('Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda'), operating through low-visibility satsang networks, schools, and political engagement rather than temples. Ex-members — several now public figures' critics — describe absolute guru veneration, purity rules, homophobic teaching, and children raised under total deference to Butler. Coverage expanded after adherent-raised politician Tulsi Gabbard's campaigns drew scrutiny to the network.

Sahaja Yoga (Nirmala Srivastava)

New Religious Movement

Kenja Communication

Kenja Communication is an Australian personal-development organisation founded in Sydney in 1982 by Ken Dyers — a decorated war veteran and former Scientologist — and his partner Annette (Jan) Hamilton, offering 'energy conversion' sessions, klowning theatre, and self-mastery seminars. Its documented record is dominated by the allegations against Dyers: charged repeatedly from the 1990s with child sexual assault offences involving girls connected to the organisation (one 1990s process ended in acquittals and discharges; further charges followed in 2005–07), he died by suicide in 2007, days after being charged with additional counts. In 2016 the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse made Kenja a formal case study, hearing survivors and examining the organisation's founder-centred culture, one-on-one session structure, and hostility to complainants; the organisation, which continues under Hamilton's leadership, has rejected the allegations and the characterisations. Scored on the Commission's public record at medium confidence.

Political / Ideological

HyperFund / HyperVerse

HyperFund (rebranded HyperVerse) was a crypto-investment scheme, launched in 2020, whose 2021 global launch introduced a chief executive, 'Steven Reece Lewis,' later reported by The Guardian to have been a hired actor performing a fabricated leadership role. The U.S. Department of Justice and SEC announced parallel actions on 29 January 2024 over an approximately $1.89 billion (DOJ) / $1.7 billion (SEC) fraud scheme; promoters Brenda Chunga ('Bitcoin Beautee') and Rodney Burton ('Bitcoin Rodney') have pleaded guilty, while Australian national Sam Lee remains charged but outside U.S. custody. This entry mirrors this catalogue's BitConnect precedent, scoring a fraud-first scheme with thin documented community-control evidence and a fraud record carried mainly through the modifier.

Potter's House Christian Fellowship (Christian Fellowship Ministries)

The Potter's House Christian Fellowship — the flagship of Christian Fellowship Ministries (CFM), founded by Wayman Mitchell in Prescott, Arizona in 1970 — is a Pentecostal church-planting network that grew to a claimed two-to-three thousand congregations worldwide through its distinctive method: converts become disciples, disciples are sent out as pastors, and every church exists to plant more churches. Across four decades, ex-member accounts and periodic journalism (notably in Arizona and Australia, the network's strongholds) have described a recurring pattern at committed levels: strong pastoral authority over members' dating, marriages, education, and career decisions; discouragement of outside education and media; and social cutoff experienced by those who leave. The fellowship rejects cult characterisations, pointing to autonomous local congregations and voluntary participation. Mitchell died in 2020; the network continues. This entry is unrelated to T.D. Jakes's Dallas megachurch of the same name, profiled separately.

Mandaeans (Sabian-Mandaeans)

Surviving ancient Gnostic monotheist tradition centred on John the Baptist as the chief prophet. ~60–70k adherents historically rooted in southern Iraq and Khuzestan, Iran; now largely diaspora after post-2003 violence.

Temple Society (Templers)

The Temple Society (Tempelgesellschaft) — the Templers, no relation to medieval Templars — is a radical-pietist community founded in 1861 in Württemberg by Christoph Hoffmann, who taught that Christians should gather God's people in the Holy Land as the 'spiritual temple' preparing the kingdom. Excommunicated by the Lutheran church, the Templers founded agricultural colonies in Ottoman Palestine from 1868 — Haifa, Jaffa, Sarona, and the German Colony neighbourhoods that still bear their mark — becoming a byword for orderly settlement. The community's twentieth century was tragic in the passive voice: interned by the British as enemy Germans in the world wars (a minority had joined the Nazi party in the 1930s), deported in part to Australia in 1941, and expelled definitively after 1948. The society continues today as a small, open religious community centred in Victoria, Australia, and Germany. It is scored as a comparator: strong founding separatism that institutionalised into low-control community life.

Zoroastrian Parsis (India)

Indian Zoroastrian community descended from 8th–10th century Persian refugees. ~50,000 in India today; endogamy disputes are a major intra-community fault line.
