The Cult-Like Control Index — this site's transparent 0–40 scoring system: B + I + T + E + signed modifier, clamped 0–40.
How it looks in practice
A group scoring Behaviour 8, Information 7, Thought 6, Emotional 9 with a +2 modifier lands at CLCI 32 — 'Extreme' band. A mainstream congregation scoring 2+1+1+2 with no modifier lands at 6 — 'Low'. Same yardstick, applied identically to a megachurch, an ashram, an MLM, or an online community.
