Sacred Science
Lifton's term for treating the group's worldview as both completely sacred and completely scientific — a single ultimate framework that cannot be questioned.
How it looks in practice
Scientology's 'Tech' is the canonical sacred-science example — presented as both spiritual revelation and rigorous empirical research, with the two claims insulating each other. Hindu-guru organisations doing similar work include the 'Spiritual Science Research Foundation' (SSRF) and several New-Age channelling communities that present cosmological claims as scientifically established.
BITE-model connection
Thought control. The fifth of Lifton's eight criteria. CLCI auto-detection picks up sacred-science framing in profile bodies and assigns the corresponding Lifton-criterion badge.
