Social isolation
Progressive narrowing of a member's outside-the-group social network — through schedule capture, geographic relocation, doctrinal framing of outsiders as dangerous, or formal disconnection. Operates cumulatively rather than through a single event. One of the strongest documented exit barriers in the cult-research literature: when the social network is identical to the tradition, exit becomes a relational as well as ideological act.
