Twin Flames Universe (Jeff and Shaleia Divine)

Jeff Divine (born Jeffrey Ayan, later using the name Ender Ayanethos) grew up in a Catholic family in Lapeer, Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University's business school in 2010 before relocating first to a California subsistence farm and then, in 2012, to Hawaii. Shaleia Divine (born Megan Plante, later Shaleia Ayan) grew up in a Catholic family in Canada and worked as a photography student, reiki practitioner, and psychic before meeting Jeff online in 2012 and adopting the name "Shaleia" on the advice of a spiritual teacher. The couple married in 2016, began posting YouTube videos together in 2014, and founded Twin Flames Universe (TFU) in 2017, offering a paid "Twin Flame Ascension Course" that cost $4,444 as of 2020 according to Vanity Fair's Alice Hines, the first journalist to interview the couple in person. In 2019 they founded the "Church of Union"; within it, Jeff holds the title "Father Christ," Shaleia "Mother Christ," and their daughter (born April 2023) "Princess of all Creation," together described as "the Master Christ: Eternal Ruler of all Creation." TFU also runs the "Mind Alignment Process," marketed as capable of treating PTSD, and the couple have separately claimed an ability to help cure cancer and other medical conditions through spiritual therapy.

TFU's central doctrine holds that each person has one predestined "twin flame," which Jeff and Shaleia will identify and assign; the group initially assigned outsiders who had not consented as members' "twins," leading to documented stalking charges and restraining orders against members who pursued them. Members are taught a "mirror exercise" requiring them to locate the source of any distress within their own failings — sociologist Janja Lalich has described it as an exercise that "tear[s] apart the self" while presented as therapeutic. TFU's "Divine Masculine" and "Divine Feminine" doctrine assigns each partnership one of each role; multiple former members, in press and documentary reporting, have described being reassigned a same-sex "twin" against their orientation and pressured toward gender-identity or physical-presentation changes to fit the assigned role, with a small number reporting they medically transitioned under the couple's guidance — a pattern academic critic Cassius Adair (The New School) has said imposes an external "supposed to be" onto members' gender rather than allowing self-discernment. Roughly 80% of TFU's YouTube audience is estimated to be women. Following 2023 Netflix and Amazon documentaries on the group, the Divines retained crisis-communications firm Red Banyan and, in March 2025, gave their first on-camera interview to Canadian broadcaster CTV's W5. On July 1, 2025, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced investigators had executed search warrants at two Twin Flames-linked Leelanau County properties as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into Jeff and Shaleia Divine; no charges have been filed as of the most recent reporting.
