Loaded Language
Lifton's term for insider jargon that ends discussion: phrases like 'apostate', 'worldly', 'awakened', or group-specific shorthand that signals correct alignment.
How it looks in practice
Loaded language is when someone questioning Scientology doctrine is labelled an 'SP' (Suppressive Person) — once that label is applied, the question doesn't need to be answered on its merits; it's the question of a Suppressive Person. Or in a wellness-cult context, the family member raising concerns is dismissed as 'low-vibration', 'unawakened', or 'still in the matrix'.
