Knight (born Judith Darlene Hampton, 1946) founded Ramtha's School of Enlightenment (RSE) in Yelm, Washington in 1988, though she had held 'dialogues' channelling Ramtha — a claimed 35,000-year-old Lemurian warrior spirit — since 1977. RSE operates as a division of Knight's company JZK, Inc., on an 80-acre fenced, private compound open only to staff and enrolled students; the school reported roughly 80 staff members as of 2014. Students pay substantial fees for residential 'Great Work' intensives combining channelling sessions, blindfolded exercises, and other practices the school frames as consciousness training.
The most consequential documented episode is the 2012 online leak of internal recordings made in March 2011, later covered by the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Report and Washington state media, in which Knight — speaking as Ramtha — made antisemitic remarks about the Holocaust ('Fuck God's chosen people...'), described Mexican people as 'poison,' and made other bigoted statements about gay men and organic farmers. The recordings prompted the Washington State Democratic Party to return Knight's political donations and drew public distancing from RSE alumni including Salma Hayek and Linda Evans.

Ravell) awarding her copyright as sole channeler, and via JZK Inc. v. Glandon and Knight v. WhiteWind Weaver, both pursued against people accused of teaching Ramtha-derived material without authorisation. Separately, after ex-students Virginia Coverdale and David McCarthy posted the leaked recordings online in 2012, Knight sued both; per SPLC's 2014 reporting, Coverdale was appealing a $600,000 judgment against her for releasing the videos, and McCarthy faced a separate court date, illustrating the same litigation-against-critics pattern directed at the leak itself. In Knight v. Knight (1992–1995), her then-husband Jeff Knight sued after delaying conventional HIV treatment on Ramtha's advice, delivered through Knight; the court ruled against him and he died before an appeal was heard.
